FOOTBALL BETTING ODDS CHANGE AS BARCELONA LIFTS THE LA LIGA AGAIN

Football betting odds experience changes as Luis Suarez’ hat trick helped the Catalan giant lift the La Liga for a second successive season.

Barcelona were set to lift the La Liga but a last minute challenge from Real Madrid and bitter rivals Atletico Madrid made the trophy win a fight till the end. Barcelona dipped in form during that period and lost three straight matches, which is the worst form in 13 years for the star club. The team had to rally around and dig deep to pull out consistent clean sheets towards the final games as they lifted the trophy this weekend.

Real Madrid were behind by just a point in second place after Atletico had lost a match in the final games. The odds have moved in the favour of the Catalan giant lifting the Copa Del Rey as well as the face Sevilla in the final on May 22nd. Sevilla qualified for the final after moving past Celta de Vigo in the semi finals. They had defeated them by 4-0 at home in February before playing a 2-2 draw in the following away match a week later. Continue reading

THIERRY HENRY: ARSENAL NEED HOPE

Ex-Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry says The Gunners must “pull in the same direction” these final weeks to catch up with any slip from Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gunners are third in line for the prestigious title they last won in 2004. For most of the season, the team has performed below expectations especially as they have the most knowledgeable Manager in Arsene Wenger.

The Frenchman has tried his best to steer the club to EPL victory but they are 10 points behind league leaders with six games to go. Wenger attracted heavy criticism when Watford knocked them out of the FA Cup that could have seen the team lift an unprecedented three straight FA title.

Gilberto Silva says the team has lost the chance to lift the league this season, especially with Leicester City’s stunning campaign so far, defying all predictions. A number of fans are now calling for the resignation of Wenger after years at the helm.

The legend who won two Premier League titles with the club says the team needs to remain together and keep the hope alive till the end.

Henry told Sky Sports News: “You have to hope for the best in this type of situation. Yes, if they don’t win at Goodison it’s going to be extremely difficult. Yes, mathematically it’s still possible, even if they lose at Goodison [Park]. It’s going to be very difficult. They have a game in hand in order to put some pressure on Tottenham and Leicester.”

“I agree with what Arsene said, you can’t stand still because at the end of the day you need points. [They] lost against Swansea at home when people didn’t expect that, I think Swansea didn’t expect that. But you have to try to remain positive, that’s the only thing you can try to do right now. That’s the only thing that you can go for,” the Ex-French striker continued. Continue reading

Kolo Toure is ecstatic over having Christian Benteke as his teammate

Christian Benteke decided to sign for Liverpool on July 22 as the Belgian made a move from Aston Villa over to Liverpool for a transfer fee of €32.5 million and he has already managed to make an impact in Anfield as Benteke scored the only goal of Liverpool’s match against Bournemouth.

Kolo Toure is overjoyed about having Christian Benteke as his new teammate, the Liverpool defender is certain that with this recent addition to the team, his team now have a new attacking dimension which adds more depth to the offensive department.

The 34 year old Ivorian defender praised Benteke as Kolo Toure said: “It is always difficult to play against a player like him he is really strong, he can hold the ball up, set the ball up for other players and can score goals, which is really important. I’m happier to have him on my side, definitely!

Toure admitted in saying that he is happier to be playing alongside Benteke. There is no doubt that Benteke will be a consistent starter for Liverpool as the Premier League club splashed out a substantially high fee to sign the Belgian attacker but Kolo Toure on the other hand has not been featured in any of the 4 opening matches of the season for Liverpool.

The veteran defender is mostly just being used as a substitute player and this is certainly not the way that the Ivorian player wants to spend his career as he is 34 years old and is reaching the twilights stages of his career. Continue reading

Chelsea will be starting the new season as the favourites to win the 2015-16 league title

Chelsea will be starting the new season as the favourites to win the 2015-16 league title according to bookmakers, who place the reigning champions as favourites to retain the title.

The fixture list for the new Premier League campaign has just come out with the blues being backed at 2/7 to beat Swansea City on opening day of the season. This will undoubtedly be a very tough match for the blues despite being at Stamford Bridge. The inexperienced Gary Monk has just overseen a brilliant campaign for the Welsh club and more is set to follow based on the transfer rumours.

However, it will be difficult to stop Chelsea who will be having Radamel Falcao as one of the backups for Diego Costa. Compared with Didier Drogba, Falcao should be a step up in terms of quality right now. Even though Drogba came up with some important goals against the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham, his age was shown on a number of occasions. Chelsea’s main title rivals – Manchester City – will be travelling to the Hawthorns in order to take on a West Brom team that avoided relegation comfortably after the arrival of Tony Pulis. Arsenal, meanwhile, start with a London Derby against West Ham, who will have a new manager in the form of Slaven Bilic. Continue reading

Manchester City appear to have forgotten Stevan Jovetic

Manchester City appear to have forgotten Stevan Jovetic after they brought in Wilfried Bony from Swansea City for around £ 28 million.

The Ivory Coast international became the most extensive player of the January transfer window, but many have questioned the necessity of the striker at the Etihad stadium. City had just signed Jovetic from Fiorentina in the summer for £ 24 million. The Montenegrin striker was seen as the perfect replacement for Alvaro Negredo, who moved to Spanish football initially on a loan deal. The 25-year-old, though, has featured rarely in the City first-team.

After making just nine Premier League starts so far,Jovetic was heavily linked with a return to Italian football towards the end of January. This did not happen andJovetic now remains part of the City team at least for the next six months.Jovetic is unlikely to get any game time after the arrival of Bony. The 25-year-old has now opened up on the situation and has criticised manager Manuel Pellegrini for not providing him with enough opportunities. Ironically, Pellegrini was the manager who had signed the player from Fiorentina. Continue reading

Manchester City struggling to get back in League

Manchester City have just one victory in the last three league matches, but they are still being placed as the favourites to win a crucial match against Arsenal at the Etihad stadium. Manuel Pellegrini watched his team slip five points behind Chelsea after the table leaders managed a convincing 5-0 win over Swansea on Saturday.

City could potentially reduce this gap back to two points if they get a victory against Arsenal. Their recent record against the gunners has been excellent especially at home. This should give them a lot of confidence going into the Sunday’s match. Continue reading
