Chelsea will be starting the new season as the favourites to win the 2015-16 league title

Chelsea will be starting the new season as the favourites to win the 2015-16 league title according to bookmakers, who place the reigning champions as favourites to retain the title.

The fixture list for the new Premier League campaign has just come out with the blues being backed at 2/7 to beat Swansea City on opening day of the season. This will undoubtedly be a very tough match for the blues despite being at Stamford Bridge. The inexperienced Gary Monk has just overseen a brilliant campaign for the Welsh club and more is set to follow based on the transfer rumours.

However, it will be difficult to stop Chelsea who will be having Radamel Falcao as one of the backups for Diego Costa. Compared with Didier Drogba, Falcao should be a step up in terms of quality right now. Even though Drogba came up with some important goals against the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham, his age was shown on a number of occasions. Chelsea’s main title rivals – Manchester City – will be travelling to the Hawthorns in order to take on a West Brom team that avoided relegation comfortably after the arrival of Tony Pulis. Arsenal, meanwhile, start with a London Derby against West Ham, who will have a new manager in the form of Slaven Bilic.

The gunners are placed at 4/11 to get a win whereas West Ham are backed at a distant 8/1 to start the new era with a victory. Even though West Brom had a relatively comfortable end to last season, they are given odds of 4/7 to get beaten against Manchester City, who will be very much keen on winning the league title again. City have never won back-to-back league titles, but they have been motivated after a very poor campaign in the past.
